Privacy Policy

The short version

• Reading a lesson takes no account and sets no advertising cookie.
• An account stores your email address and what you have saved. That is the point of it.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
• You can export everything and permanently delete everything, at any time, on any plan.
• Coaching calls are only recorded or transcribed if you say yes first. Say no and you still get the coaching.

What we collect, and why

• Reading the course: nothing that identifies you. No account, no sign-up, no advertising cookie.
• A free account: your email address, so we can sign you in with a link and reach you about your account, and a display name if you give one.
• What you save: quiz attempts, worksheet answers and your progress through the course, so the site can show them back to you.
• Downloads: which learner file you downloaded and when, so we can tell which parts of the course people actually use.
• Coaching conversations: what you type to the coach, so it can answer and so you can read the conversation again.
• Phone and voice coaching: the call happens whether or not you consent to a record of it. A recording, a transcript or a summary is kept only if you affirmatively consent at the start of the call. Decline and you get the same coaching with no persistent transcript.
• Payments: handled by our payment processor. We see who paid for what and when; we never see or store your card number.
• Operational logs: request and error logs, kept briefly, to keep the site working and to investigate abuse.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not run third-party advertising or tracking pixels on the course.
• We do not use your saved work or your coaching conversations to train models we do not control.
• We do not email you marketing you did not ask for, and every email we do send has a working unsubscribe link.

Who else processes it

We use service providers to run the site, and they process data on our instructions only. At the time of writing these are our hosting and application platform, our database and authentication provider, our media storage and delivery network, our email delivery provider, our community platform, our AI model providers, our telephony provider and our payment processor. A current, named list is available on request from hello@careercat.online.

Some of these operate outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION], it is transferred under the safeguards the law requires.

How long we keep it

• Your account and saved work: until you delete them, or after a long period of inactivity following notice to you.
• Coaching conversations: until you delete them, individually or with your account.
• Call recordings and transcripts: only where you consented, and deleted with your account.
• Operational logs: a short retention period, then deleted or aggregated beyond identification.
• Billing records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is the one category deletion cannot remove.

Export and deletion

You can export everything you have written and permanently delete your account and its contents at any time, on any plan, including one that has lapsed. Export produces your worksheets, quiz attempts and conversations in a readable, portable form. Deletion is permanent, not a hidden flag, and it removes everything except the legally required billing records above.

Neither is behind a payment, a phone call or a retention offer. If a control for either is ever missing from your account, email hello@careercat.online and we will do it for you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete or restrict our use of your personal data, to object to it, and to withdraw consent you have given — for example the consent to record a call — without losing access to the underlying feature. Exercise any of them by emailing hello@careercat.online. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

We set a cookie to keep you signed in, and we store your light or dark theme choice in your browser. That is all. There is no advertising cookie and no cross-site tracking, which is why this site does not ask you to accept anything.

Children

Career Cat is for people looking for work and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16, and we delete such an account if we learn of one.

Changes

If we change this policy materially we will email the address on your account before the change takes effect, and the revision date at the top of this page will change.
